Jon Arkin Online Class: Polyrhythms for Drummers

January 11, 2023 @ 7:45 pm

Wednesdays 7:45 – 9:15pm
1/11 – 3/15 (10 weeks)

As rhythm is the primary component of the language of drumming, a strong rhythmic sense is essential for drummers to be able to play in any musical context. One of the most effective ways of developing this sense is through the study of polyrhythms, which are present in every style of music (sometimes in forms that are not immediately obvious). In this class, students will learn about the fundamental & most common types of polyrhythms, including how to understand & count them, and will explore a series of exercises which apply these rhythms to common meters & styles of music. Using these tools, you can find a new level of rhythmic fluency and an enhanced musical voice.

To register, follow this link to the CJC’s website.

Please note: All Listed Classes and Workshops are Pacific Time. This course will be conducted live via video conferencing. A computer or other device with a webcam and microphone and a reliable internet connection is required. Log-in information will be sent to students before the first class meeting!
